Jul 2022-Feb 2025: USAID/ Armenia Improved Water Management for Sustainable Economic Growth

The Urban Foundation successfully contributed to the project aiming to support transforming Armenia’s water management approach by integrating advanced technologies, strengthening governance, and enhancing regional cooperation.

Access to safe water in border settlements

Strategic initiatives resulted in the upgrade of 2 strategic water monitoring points measuring water inlet and outlet from Lake Sevan, the execution of 4 small-scale irrigation and drinking water projects in border settlements of Syunik (Khndzoresk and Tegh) and Tavush (Vazashen and Khashtarak) regions.

Those projects have been implemented in close cooperation with Goris, Ijevan and Tegh communities, Government of Armenia, Hovnanyan Family Foundation, EU, Austrian Development Agency, World Food Program, UN GEF SGP, and Embassy of Lithuania in Armenia.

The project provided technical assistance in preparing engineering designs and introducing water saving and energy efficient technologies for additional 7 settlements of Syunik (Lehvaz), Gegharkunik (Vahan, Geharkunik, Karmirgyugh), Vayots Dzor (Bardzruni), Kotayk (Mayakovski), and Ararat (Masis) regions.

The program supported water sector reforms providing technical assistance for the Government in improving legislation and initiating water sector strategy.
