July-Nov. 2023 Assisting Tegh village access to irrigation water by joining efforts with other donors

The Urban Foundation supported the Tegh community to secure access to irrigation water through a strategic collaboration with donors, including the EU and the Lithuanian Embassy, resulting in the construction of a fully operational irrigation system. The Embassy helped building a a pumping station which was equipped with two energy-efficient pumps by USAID.

In addition, 900m pressure pipeline was installed (by the Government) transferring water to an 80m³ reservoir (supported by UN GEF SGP), and a distribution network (supported by the Government). Solar panels were installed by UN GEF to cover over 30% of the station’s energy needs, reducing operational costs. The initiative successfully irrigated over 330 ha of arid land, benefiting 1,200 residents (300 households) by improving agricultural productivity, enabling high-value crop cultivation, and fostering rural economic growth.
