May – Sep, 2010 – Public Education for Improved Environment

The proposed project joined efforts of local authorities, civil society organizations, opinion leaders and media of the target cluster communities to promote knowledge and modify behavior about managing and dealing with solid household waste. The project had three directions:
a public education campaign for various age groups to manage the existing perceptions, to introduce new practices and to influence on mentality of the audience. Parallel, a local taskforce trained in environmental aspects, basics of waste separation and recycling spread their knowledge throughout target communities.
Piloting a plastic waste separation and recycling model: the local government allocated spaces where special bins for separated plastic waste were placed.
Disseminating the findings and results: As this kind of activity is innovative shared lessons learned with all interested parties through internet, published report and dissemination Round Table.
