Gargar’s Glow-Up: Water, Education, and Renewable Energy

Gargar’s Glow-Up: Water, Education, and Renewable Energy

A 1,000-meter-long water pipeline was constructed in the village of Gargar, Lori Province, ensuring access to quality drinking water for the local school, medical center, sports school, kindergarten, and 27 households.

As part of the project, a section of the school building was renovated, creating bright and modern classrooms, which allowed for a transition to a single shift learning schedule. Additionally, a 5-kW solar power plant was installed on the school’s roof, already contributing to energy savings.

These improvements were made possible through a grant from the Embassy of Japan in Armenia provided to the Urban Foundation, implemented in collaboration with the Armenian Energy Agency Foundation․ His Excellency Ambassador Aoki Yutaka attended the project presentation.

However, completing the work would not have been possible without the support of the Armenian Energy Agency Foundation, Izmirlian Foundation and the Coca-Cola Foundation. The Gargar project serves as an excellent example of how local organizations and international donor institutions can join forces to improve the well-being of communities in Armenia.
